DAY 2:

After breakfast, set off toward Tarangire National Park, often called “the park of elephants and baobabs.” The first sight of ancient baobab trees rising above the savannah feels almost prehistoric. Your game drive winds along the Tarangire River, a lifeline attracting massive herds of elephants, wildebeest, zebras, and giraffes all shadowed by lurking predators. Early July marks the dry season’s start, meaning wildlife concentrates near water sources, creating dramatic photographic opportunities. With luck, you may see lions resting in the shade, cheetahs scanning the plains, or even the elusive leopard draped over a tree branch. Break for a picnic lunch in a scenic spot before continuing the search for the park’s famous and colorful birdlife, including lilac-breasted rollers and yellow-collared lovebirds.

In the late afternoon, drive to the lush farming town of Karatu or Mto wa Mbu, where rolling coffee plantations frame your overnight stay.

DAY 3:

An early start takes you through the Ngorongoro Highlands and into the endless plains of the Serengeti. The transition is breathtaking from cool misty forests to golden grasslands stretching to the horizon. Along the way, Maasai herders in crimson shukas guide their cattle, a timeless sight in this part of Africa. Arrive in Central Serengeti’s Seronera Valley, famous for its year-round water supply and high density of predators. Afternoon game drives reveal lion prides lounging near kopjes, cheetahs scanning termite mounds for prey, and possibly the stealthy movement of a leopard. The region teems with plains game, from Top and hartebeest to Grant’s gazelle, providing a constant buffet for predators.

As the sun sets, return to your lodge to enjoy a campfire, a hearty dinner, and the distant calls of hyenas under a canopy of stars.

DAY 4:

Today, journey north toward the remote Mara River region, where the Great Migration gathers before braving the crocodile-filled waters. This is one of the wildest, most untouched parts of the Serengeti, with rolling hills, scattered woodlands, and the drama of predator-prey interactions at every turn.

After settling into your camp, a Midrange tented camp blending comfort with immersive wilderness, head out for an afternoon game drive. Your focus: the riverbanks, where tens of thousands of wildebeest and zebras mass together, their restlessness signalling an imminent crossing. The tension in the air is palpable every movement of the herd is watched by crocodiles below and lions above.

Evening brings a sundowner with sweeping views, followed by a chef-prepared dinner lit by lanterns. The night is filled with the deep grunts of wildebeest and the rustle of nocturnal hunters.

The day will be focused on seeking out the wildebeest herds and river crossings at the Mara River, one of the most thrilling wildlife spectacles on Earth. Your guide will carefully position you at strategic points along the river for the best chance of witnessing this breathtaking natural event. In addition to the migration, the region teems with predators such as lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas, all waiting for the perfect hunting opportunity. Picnic lunch will be served at a scenic location by the river or under acacia trees, allowing you to maximize your time in the wild. Return to camp in the evening for dinner and relaxation.
